What has changed
A lot of this goes back to feedback. Who wrote it appears nowhere here — only what came of it.
-
Every page now says that everything is plant-based
Until now only the invitation message said it: “all plant-based — no meat, no dairy, no eggs”. Anyone opening the link directly, or getting it passed on without the invitation, read it nowhere — on the buffet page the rule appeared only in the WhatsApp preview image, and if the host wrote nothing about it, the leaf symbol was all there was. The sentence now stands on the buffet page, in the form right at the “What are you bringing?” field, and under both messages a host uses to follow up or announce a change.
-
The site says “plant-based” instead of “vegan”
The wording now talks about plant-based food. Nothing changes on the buffet: the recipes still contain no animal products. So the invitation stays unmistakable, it spells the rule out — “all plant-based — no meat, no dairy, no eggs”.
-
Recipe buttons now show where they lead
The suggested recipes live on other people’s sites — until now the button to them looked like any other button in the app. It now carries an arrow and, below it, the site the recipe is on. Tap it and you know beforehand that you are leaving the app, and where you are going. The source, previously a separate line above the button, has moved onto the button itself.
-
Ingredient labels now say what is in a dish
The field on the entry form used to read “Free from” and offered gluten-free, nut-free and soy-free. That is a promise, and it is one almost nobody can make in a home kitchen: gluten hides in the soy sauce, nuts hide in the chocolate. What you do know for certain is what you put in yourself. So the field now reads “Contains” and names gluten, nuts or soy when they are in there. On the recipe suggestions the labels are gone entirely — they described the linked recipe, not the dish that ends up on the table. Entries made before the change no longer show a label. And as before: if you have an allergy, please ask the person bringing the food.
-
Large guest counts produced too few dishes
When you create a potluck, the app suggests how many dishes each category needs, based on the number of guests. If you entered more guests than the app plans for, the numbers shown belonged to a shorter entry: 201 guests displayed the suggestions for 20. Above the limit the limit now applies — 200 guests, 200 dishes — instead of quietly leaving a different number in place.
-
The home page invites instead of converting
The line on the home page used to read “Veganize your friends”. It meant an evening where everyone brings something vegan — but it read like something aimed at the guest. It now says “Give your friends a taste for vegan”, in all three languages, with the word “vegan” set apart in colour. The top of the page was retypeset along with it: clearer spacing, one line less of reassurance.
-
Shared links now say what this is about
Share wasbringich.de on WhatsApp and the preview now says right away what it is: a vegan potluck, and that anyone out of ideas gets three. Invitations have their own preview — it speaks to the guests and says up front that the potluck is vegan. Both come in all three languages of the site.
-
The site is now available in Norwegian
Alongside German and English, the whole interface is now available in Norwegian — including the recipe suggestions, the legal pages and this page. Switch languages at the top right.
-
Anonymous counts instead of tracking
Recipe links now go through an address on this site first and forward you immediately. That makes it possible to count how often someone gets from here to a recipe blog — a number those sites get from nobody else. Counting happens per hour and without any personal reference: no cookies, no IP address, no recognition across visits. What exactly is counted, and what deliberately is not, is explained in the privacy policy under “Counting without tracking”.
-
Suggested amounts now match your guest count
When you create a potluck, the app suggests how many starters, mains, desserts and drinks to aim for, based on how many guests are coming. Those numbers did not always add up to the guest count — 10 guests could end up as 11 dishes. Now they do add up. And the total is shown below the categories, so you no longer have to add it up yourself.
-
Send changes to the group
Change the title, date, time, place or description after inviting, and the manage page shows a new WhatsApp button. The message names every changed field with what is true now. The button stays for good — a change is rarely announced only once.
-
The language switch now works on every page
If a potluck had been created in English, the "de" button in the top right did nothing: it led back to the same page, and the potluck's own language won again. German was simply unreachable on an English potluck.
The button now switches on every page, and the language you pick survives the next click — including signing up and saving.
